
Move-Out Checklist
Our cleaning standard for a smooth move-out and full deposit return.
This checklist covers everything we look for during your move-out inspection. Following it closely is the best way to get your full security deposit back. If you have questions about any item, reach out to us at team@leasewithprovidence.com.
General (All Rooms)
Air Vents & Air Intake Vents: Free of dust on vent and ceiling, filters replaced.
Baseboards: Clean and dust-free.
Doors: Clean, including door jams, knobs, thresholds, and side lights.
Carpeting: Must be vacuumed and professionally shampooed.
Fireplaces: All debris removed and swept clean.
Flooring: All floors swept and mopped.
Light Bulbs: Replaced with matching bulbs if they're out.
Light Fixtures: Interior and exterior fixtures must be clean, dust-free, and working.
Light Switch Covers: Replace damaged or cracked covers with matching ones.
Smoke Detectors: Less than 10 years old, clean, dirt-free, and working.
Trash: All trash removed from premises (not awaiting pickup).
Walls: Clean, dusted so no marks are visible. Nails removed and patched.
Water Softeners: Full of salt and working. Let us know before listing if it doesn't work.
Windows: Interior glass cleaned in every room, including window tracks.
Window Sills: Vacuumed and washed in every room.
Window Treatments: Mini blinds and curtain rods clean and dust-free.
Kitchen
Cabinets & Drawers: Washed inside and out. Remove any shelf paper. Wipe out drawers with a damp rag.
Countertops & Backsplashes: Thoroughly cleaned, free of grease, debris, and food particles.
Dishwasher: Free of soap residue and food particles. Exterior wiped clean of all dirt, stains, and food particles, including the door seals.
Garbage Disposal: Clean of all food particles and odor-free. Let us know before listing if it doesn't work.
Range Hood & Microwave: Clean of dust, food particles, and grease. Metal filters cleaned or replaced if applicable. Hood fan light bulb working.
Refrigerator: Interior and exterior washed throughout. Remove all bins and shelves to clean thoroughly. Filter working if present.
Stove: Remove racks and broiler pan, soak in hot water and dry well. Clean inside oven, top of stove, under elements, pan drawer, exhaust fan, and hood. Remove lower drawer and clean under stove.
Bathrooms
Bathtubs, Showers & Drains: Clean. Remove all stains, dust, lime, and mineral buildup.
Floors (Vinyl, Ceramic, etc.): Mopped, all base molding and trim cleaned.
Toilets: Entire fixture scrubbed and disinfected, including the base. Seat clean and not broken.
Sinks, Mirrors & Faucets: Cleaned and free of streaks and spots.
Vanities, Cabinets, Shelving & Towel Bars: Clean interior and exterior.
Walls & Ceramic Tile: Washed until free from dirt and mildew.
Exhaust Fans: Clean, dust-free, and silent during operation.
Exterior & Outdoor Areas
Yard: Clean, weed-free, mowed, and edged.
Siding/Stucco: Wash exterior siding if dirty.
Carports, Garages & Patios: Broom-clean and free of debris.
Trash, Debris & Leaves: All removed from the property.
Personal Items
No personal items should be present. This includes:
Coat hangers, toilet brush cleaners, plungers
Shower curtains
Cleaning supplies (unless more than half full)
Toilet paper rolls (unless new)
Old paint cans, brooms, mops
Kitchen drawers full of old items
